Hachi Fund
On March 9th, The Heavy Hitters Project helped a Marine Corps veteran cover emergency costs needed to help his best friend, Hachi the Husky. Our community hosted a charity stream where we gamed, had deep talks, and kept the cameras rolling for 20 hours with a goal of raising enough to help pay off this unexpected bill.
Supporters came through in a big way, not just reaching the $748 goal, but exceeding it at $848 with contributions from 14 unique donors! Hachi means the world to our veteran, and his diagnosis of heart cancer blindsided him.
While transitioning out of the Marine Corps, this vet faced some seriously tough times. As he navigated housing insecurity and the turbulent military-to-civilian shift, his two huskies helped keep hopelessness at bay, giving him a reason to live just one more day, many days in a row. We’re honored to have helped Hachi, and we extend a heartfelt thank you to all donors and viewers for their support.
Sometimes, that looks like helping a veteran pay vet bills so he can focus on loving the dog that saved his life. "Just one more" is our motto at The Heavy Hitters Project. It serves as a reminder that if we can help "just one more" person resist the siren call of suicide, we can, in time, keep the beast at bay. The reasons behind suicide are complex, and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution.
Heavy Hitters treats each individual or organization we assist as a unique case, working alongside them to accomplish our shared mission of stopping suicide through community support. Remember, it’s one family, one fight. With teamwork and determination, anything is possible. Semper Fi!
The Hachi Fund is dedicated to supporting veterans and their families during times of financial crisis. We understand that unexpected hardships—such as medical emergencies, job loss, or unforeseen expenses—can create overwhelming challenges. Our mission is to provide direct and timely support to ensure that those who have served, and their loved ones, receive the help they need when they need it most.
