About Us

The name Heavy comes from our founder’s nickname while he served in the Marine Corps, "Heavy_Actual", but it represents more than just an identity—it’s a weight we all carry.  The "Heavys" represents the weight we carry—the experiences, struggles, and responsibilities that come with serving and supporting our own. "Hitters" signifies action—we don’t just talk about change, we make an impact, fighting back against veteran suicide, isolation, and the challenges our community faces. And "Project" reminds us that this is an ongoing mission—one that requires all of us to step up, look out for each other, and keep pushing forward.

If you’re here, you’re part of something bigger. You’re part of a team that doesn’t back down, that looks out for each other, and that isn’t afraid to take on the hard fights. Whether you’re on active duty, a veteran, a supporter, or someone who believes in making a difference this is your fight too. We carry the weight together. We hit back together. We move forward together.

Our Story

The Heavy's Hitters Project was born from a simple, yet powerful idea: that healing begins when individuals who have faced trauma come together to support one another. Our founders, inspired by their own experiences with military service and the emotional and psychological challenges that often accompany it, saw a need for a community that offered more than just traditional resources. They envisioned a place where veterans, service members, and civilians could connect on a deeper level — where shared experiences could lead to healing, understanding, and ultimately, empowerment.

Recognizing the unique struggles that trauma survivors face, particularly in the context of reintegration after military service and the effects of PTSD and sexual assault, we decided to create a space that is both accessible and safe. In an age where many find themselves disconnected or isolated, our online community was designed as a welcoming environment where people can come together, share their stories, and help each other on their journey toward recovery.
